Support St. PaulŐs Ministries

You can support the ministries of St. PaulŐs Episcopal Church with a donation to one of our Funds, as described below.  We respectfully ask that you designate your donation to one of these three Funds, and not to a very specific ministry or need, so that we might use your donation to best meet the needs at that time.

To make a contribution to our

á       Mission and Outreach Fund

á       General Fund, or

á       Capital Fund

please contact our Parish Office at (540) 663-3085 or email stpauls@crosslink.net.

Mission and Outreach Fund

The mission of St. PaulŐs Parish is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, outreach and education, such as:

á       Donations to our local and world community, including area food banks, the American Cancer SocietyŐs Relay for Life, and Heifer International.

á       Haiti Micah Project.  The non-profit Haiti Micah Project feeds, clothes, and educates the impoverished children of Mirebalais, Haiti. St. PaulŐs is a partner with the Project.

á       St. PaulŐs Day School Scholarships.  Our preschool offers tuition assistance/scholarships to local children in need, thereby spreading our ministry through education.

á       Diocesan Ministries.  The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia has many other ministries that can be found at http://www.thediocese.net/give.shtml.

General Fund

Our General Fund maintains the day-to-day operations of the church property.  This Fund is used to maintain and improve our buildings and grounds, such as:

á       Repair and Renovations.  St. PaulŐs Church is an old, historic building that frequently needs maintenance and renovations, and some of these can be quite costly.  Currently, we are in great need of funds to replace four rotting entrance doors and their framework.  The scope of work will replicate the original woodwork and follow National Historic preservation guidelines.

á       Public Address System.  We have a need to amplify the spoken words of our clergy and lay leaders so that all in the congregation might clearly hear our services.

á       Wheelchair Ramp. An ADA approved wheelchair ramp will replace the aging mechanical lift at the churchŐs west transept.

Capital Fund

In order to ensure St Paul's has the resources available for future needs, to sustain our growth, and to accomplish our mission, we established a Capital Fund to allow contributions to be designated to help us make these future plans, maintain the buildingŐs historical integrity, and meet our obligations.  Renovations of both the historic church structure and other facilities, property, and equipment; completing major capital expenditures (such as a new roof, parish additions, and/or structural work); or restoration of the sanctuaryŐs interior to its historically correct 18th century appointments are among the projects contemplated. Your generous gift, living gift, or bequeath will be appreciated for generations to come. Below are some other needs and options:

á        Organ Fund.  The St. PaulŐs electro-pneumatic organ is soon to be 100 years old.  A complete modernization, cleaning, and voicing is planned.  Though costly, it will extend our beautiful organŐs use for another half century.

á       Cemetery Columbarium.  A columbarium will offer families an alternative venue for remembrance and contemplation.

á       Grounds Beautification/Memorials.  In keeping with the historic colonial look of the church, there are some limited opportunities to beautify the church grounds and construct memorials.

á       Land Acquisition.  St. PaulŐs Church is situated at the intersection of two roads with a deep ravine behind the property. There is open land on one side of the church that may become available; if we owned this land it would allow us to expand as the need arises. In light of the growth forecast for our county and our proximity to Washington, DC and major interstate thoroughfares, this could be an important consideration in future.
