From the Rector

The Reverend James B May, Jr. is Rector of St. Paul’s. Jim has provided a description of his life during the time before he came to St. Paul’s.

The Rev. Jim May was born in Orlando, Florida February 4th 1954. He was raised in Jacksonville, Florida by James B. May Sr. and Janice E May and has one brother, Mike May. Jim met his wife Katherine A Allison from Tippo, Mississippi in Jacksonville in 1979. They were married in Charleston, Mississippi in 1980 and had their son James B. May III in 1981. The family joined the Episcopal Church in 1984 and left for Seabury- Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois in 1987.

He graduated in 1991 and went to Cooke City, Montana to be part of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks. This was a 3 month ministry and from there did Youth Ministry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheridan, Wyoming. There, he was ordained as deacon and left to minister in two missions churches in Kemmerer, Wyoming (St. James) and Cokeville, Wyoming (St. Bartholomew’s). Shortly after beginning he was ordained to the priesthood. Jim was at these two missions for 4 years and in 1997 answered a call to St. James in Indian Head, Maryland . In 2003 he answered another call to this church, St. Paul’s in King George, Virginia.
