National and International Projects

Haiti Micah Project - This Christian organization is committed to addressing the needs of impoverished and uneducated street children of Haiti. The Project’s Phase I goal is to initially feed 115 children per day. Phase II’s goal is the construction of a residential and educational center for 120 children, ages 3-16.
Heifer International - This organization helps children and families around the world receive training and animal gifts that help them become self-reliant.
Relay for Life – This national fundraising event benefits the American Cancer Society and its cancer research efforts. The King George Relay takes place in May, at the King George High School track.

Local Projects

Hope House – This Fredericksburg safe house is for area homeless women and their children. Its mission is to provide a clean, safe, year-round transitional shelter and to help families become self-sufficient.

Jackson-Feild Homes for Girls – This organization educates, equips, and empowers at-risk young women. They provide programs and a home for girls age thirteen - 21, and their children.

King George Animal Shelter – Our County’s animal shelter is located off Route 205; it houses both cats and dogs. The shelter needs food, blankets, treats, and toys for the animals.

Little Ark Baptist Church Food Bank – This church in Owens has a food pantry which serves needy families in our King George community. Instructions for delivering donations to the pantry are available here.

Salvation Army Christmas Stockings – The St. Paul’s Sunday School fills Christmas stockings to be distributed to needy children each December.

Samaritan’s Purse (shoeboxes of love) – ‘Operation Christmas Child’ distributes shoeboxes filled with small toys, candies, toiletries, school supplies, socks, and more to children in impoverished countries in November and December.

Thurman Brisben Shelter - This emergency shelter in Fredericksburg addresses the needs of our local homeless population.

To put yourself in the place of the children in Haiti, please follow this link to a video clip on YouTube with Karen Young singing “Nobody’s Child.” It’s nice music and conveys a heartfelt message.

Please donate your spent printer cartridges.

What do you do with your ink cartridges when they are empty? Do you throw them away or do you recycle? Our church is recycling them and in return we are getting funds to send to our outreach and mission commitments. If you do throw away your cartridges, please contact me and let me send you a self addressed stamped envelope or drop them in the green box on the display case in the parish house so that you can recycle your cartridges for us. All you will have to do is drop the cartridge in an envelope or box and the recycle company will automatically credit our account. Thanks so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
